Hannibal Season 3 has already attracted some big names, but Oscar nominated director Guillermo del Toro will not be joining the bloody fun.
Guillermo del Toro has been nominated for Oscars, international awards and is a fanboy favorite but he won’t be taking his talents to the universe of Hannibal. On April Fool’s Day, it was reported that Guillermo del Toro would be directing the season finale of Hannibal Season 3, but these reports appear to have been flat out wrong.
According to Digital Spy UK, the finale episode Hannibal Season 3 will not be directed by Guillermo del Toro, despite early reports that stated otherwise. It doesn’t appear that this was an April’s Fools joke, rather just miscommunication about who was directing episodes of the show.
“The inaccurate information was the result of a miscommunication in the process of editing our April newsletter. We take full responsibility for the error, and extend our most sincere apologies.”
This could have been a miscommunication over who the producers want to have direct episodes — and del Toro is perfect. He’s tied up at FX though at the moment with his series The Strain, and he has a nice slate of film work lined up starting with The Dark Justice League, which is part of the DC-Warners expanded universe.
As perfect as del Toro is for the job, he just simply does not have the time to make this happen but we shouldn’t lose hope for the future.
