Hannibal needs a new home — and a nakama to keep it company.
Fannibals across the world can agree that Hannibal is a like a fine wine in pretty much every sense, and like a fine wine, it should be paired with something equally fine. Here are a few shows we think Hannibal would go well with.
1. The Walking Dead, AMC
In all honesty, AMC hadn’t really stood out to me as a contender to #SaveHannibal, until one of our commenters suggested airing Hannibal after The Walking Dead on Sunday nights, with the following tagline:
A show about the dead eating the living, followed by a show about the living eating the dead.
I don’t know about you, but I’m sold.
2. Penny Dreadful, Showtime
Speaking of a Sunday night horror block, the macabre and very stylized Penny Dreadful could make for a great lead-in to Hannibal, and the marriage would definitely help boost viewership for both.
3. Bates Motel, A&E
Double the psychopaths, double the fun, right? Freddie Highmore and Mads Mikkelsen would make quite the pair, and imagine the marketing opportunities! Who’s onboard for “We All Go a Little Mads Mondays”* being promoted with a promo featuring Hannibal as Norman’s psychiatrist?
4. American Horror Story, FX
One of my favorite things about Hannibal is its approach to humor, and AHS has always had a tongue-in-cheek tone as well. (I personally love my horror with a splash of comedy.)
5. Orphan Black, BBC America
Fans of Orphan Black know the series isn’t part of the horror genre like the other shows on this list, but there’s huge crossover between its fanbase and Hannibal‘s — put the two shows together and they could bring in an audience larger than either on its own. I for one wouldn’t at all mind spending an evening with Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, and Tatiana Maslany.
